Robben Island Swim Campaign

In April 2022 two of PFH’s co-founders, Emily Farrell and Lara du Plessis, are taking on the Robben Island Freedom Swim (7.4km) in support of Periods for Hope. They are on a mission to raise enough funds to purchase 38 reusable sanitary kits for each kilometre they swim. That's a total of 282 girls who won't need to miss a single day of school for the next 5+ years due to a lack of sanitary products. One reusable sanitary kit = R165, so they are aiming to raise a total of R46 664 (Nelson Mandela's prison number when he was imprisoned on Robben Island).

Run for Hope

Our annual virtual run is hosted on the last Sunday of August as part of our Women’s Month campaign. Across the globe, our Periods for Hope community run together (virtually) to raise funds in support of our mission.

Runners are entered into a lucky draw to win a variety of exciting prizes from local small businesses.

In 2018, Keys Tigers also ran for hope and raised R18 000. Read more about it here.

Welcome to the club.

In celebration of Women's Month (August 2020), Periods for Hope collected a diverse range of women's "first period" stories. These stories have been compiled into a beautifully designed booklet, with them aim of making young girls feel part of a greater community of women who support each other in all aspects.

Women’s Day with Luna

In 2020, we teamed up with Luna Intimates to auction off a beautiful lingerie set, handmade in Cape Town, to raise funds in honour of Women’s Month.

Luna Intimates have maintained their relationship with us and supported us during the 2021 Run For Hope.

Support a Saffa

This community project came originated in March 2020, as we entered the COVID-19 pandemic. Our partnership wit Support a Saffa distributed sanitary kits and educational booklets to the girls who we could not reach due to the nationwide lockdown.

T-Shirts for Change

The Change Fund is a T-Shirts for Change initiative that raises funds for charities through the sale of slogan t-shirts and tote bags. In 2020, The Change Fund partnered with Periods For Hope and all proceeds were donated to us for the purchase of sanitary kits.

Toast Record Bags

In 2020, Periods for Hope collaborated with Toast Record Bags to create a sustainable, handmade tote bag. All proceeds were donated to Periods for Hope.
