Ikeys Run for Hope
The Ikeys Preseason Squad for the 2018 Varsity Cup campaign felt the need to contribute to something bigger than rugby and to have a positive influence in our community. So, the Ikeys Run for Hope was born - hopefully an annual event looking to raise money and awareness for two noteworthy causes.
Sanitary towels donation to break absenteeism rate
The days when they were forced to stay away from school as a result of them not having sanitary towels are over for girls of Nomzamo High School. NPO Periods for Hope donated a year-long supply of sanitary towels to the school on Monday 12 February.
11-day cycle challenge set to provide sanitary packs for homeless women
Students commit to an 11-day cycling challenge to raise R70 000 for homeless women who are underequipped during their menstruation cycles. After reading Lynn Butler's gripping article, How do homeless women handle menstruation?, 4 university students are attempting an 11-day cycle to raise awareness and money in a Periods for Hope initiative.

On Thursday the 9th of June, in the LeadSA Make a Difference Diary, Pippa spoke to four students, Lara Du Plessis, Richard Freund, Emily Farrell and Lood van Niekerk, who were cycling from Cape Town to Plettenberg Bay to raise money to fund and distribute sanitary packages to homeless women around Cape Town.
